Gainesville is full of cheer this holiday season, and fraternity date functions are abundant from now until exam week. Whether you rent a dress to get an invitation or rent a dress for the big night, you’ll be looking chic every time you leave your apartment.
Sigma Phi Epsilon’s Safari date function calls for an animal print or barbarian style dress like Dolce & Gabbana’s Leopard Looker Dress. Beta’s Ski Lodge needs an outfit that is retro, cute and cozy. Feel Like a Princess in Hervé Léger
Our trunk show on Nov. 4 was a huge success! We had 17 dress rentals and two jewelry rentals in just three hours. The UF students pictured above had a great time trying on fabulous Missoni and Hervé Léger dresses.
Renters had the chance to sit down with Becky Hyman, director of college, and Nikki Stephens, college coordinator, when selecting a dress. The Rent the Runway professionals gave them advice on style, color, occasion and sizing.
Blair Burke, a Kappa Delta, rented a dress and necklace for Thanksgiving dinner with her boyfriend’s parents. “I loved the RTR trunk show and getting style advice from women who know the dresses and designers,” said Burke about the event.
Besides getting 50 percent off their purchase, those who rented at the event were entered in a contest to win a Hervé Léger dress, valued at more than $1,000. One of the lucky 17 women will win. The main events that dresses were rented for include Thanksgiving, date functions and birthdays.
Enjoy Rent the Runway’s Trunk Show
Our RTR at UF team had been preparing for weeks for our trunk show. It was our biggest event of fall and was held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 4.
The trunk show was at the Kappa Delta sorority house and three women flew down from Rent the Runway’s New York headquarters to attend the event. Becky Hyman, director of college, helped us with the event and with talking to potential customers.
Our two RTR at UF managers, Julie DeJaco and Kendall Thomas, are pictured with some of the dresses featured at the trunk show. The other photo is a candid shot of a customer shopping for potential rentals.
Women that attended the trunk show had the opportunity to look at and try on the dresses that we ordered for the event. We also had a computer station where they could shop the website for the hundreds of other dresses and place orders. Everyone that rented during the trunk show got 50 percent off their order with the promotional code “gator50.”
UF Homecoming Pageant 2011
Rent the Runway offers promotions for the girls that compete in the University of Florida Homecoming Pageant to rent elegant, floor-length dresses. The pageant took place on Nov. 1 and the winner will be announced at Gator Growl on Nov. 4.

The Homecoming pageant is a night where the most involved and qualified women at UF are honored for their brains and beauty. Rent the Runway at UF loves getting involved each year and providing these deserving women with knockout designer dresses at a reasonable price. Everyone deserves to feel like a queen!
Gators love Badgley Mischka
The Rent the Runway contest for best school style ended Oct. 21 and I hope all of you went to our website and voted for UF!
Our representative was Kendall Thomas, an Alpha Omicron Pi, and it was a picture of her wearing a standout dress for her 21st birthday. She was pictured in a gorgeous Badgley Mischka dress that perfectly represents the chic fashion of UF girls.
The college that gets the most votes will receive a 25 percent off RTR promotional code for the month of November. This means you can rent as many amazing dresses as you want in November and use the 25 percent off code for every purchase. The winner will be announced soon.
Some perfect opportunities to impress the gentlemen of UF in beautiful dresses and accessories include Gator Growl, the homecoming game, formal events during Homecoming week and Thanksgiving parties. NYC Fashion, College Budget
This weekend I spent my 20th birthday in New York and rented two fabulous designer dresses for the occasion. Both dresses came with the backup size I had selected and were a perfect fit.
The dresses were shipped to my house in Orlando and I tracked the order on the UPS website. The dresses were in great condition, arrived on time and came with a garment bag to keep and envelopes for sending the dresses back.
The dress in the picture on the left is the Hervé Léger Sedona Sunrise dress, and I’m wearing the Sachin + Babi Petal to the Metal dress in the picture on the right.

Be a PIKE Dream Girl
Pi Kappa Alpha, a UF fraternity, hosts the PIKE Dream Girl competition every fall. This year, Rent the Runway at UF was the event’s main sponsor.
Every UF Panhellenic sorority has a contender, and sororities vote for which girl best represents and promotes PIKE. The event took place at their fraternity house Sept. 12.
Our team rewarded the PIKE Dream Girl winner with a $50 gift card and provided her entire sorority with a promotion code for discounts on Sept. 13, the night the winner was revealed. Each girl in the competition got a RTR goodie bag with sunglasses, nail polish and a coupon code.
PIKE also has a calandar shoot with the Dream Girl, and RTR will provide chic dresses for the photo shoot.
The men of PIKE printed our logo on all printed materials and t-shirts, and they hung a RTR banner outside their fraternity house.
